IT-Security Specialist - South Africa

Starting Salary: 33K South African Rand monthly (net), Negotiable

Aginion is seeking a IT-Security Specialist to join our team full-time (40 hours/week). This is a fully remote position, open to candidates based anywhere in South Africa. Applicants must have an unrestricted right to work in South Africa and access to a reliable broadband internet connection.

As an IT-Security Specialist at Aginion, you will play a critical role in safeguarding infrastructure, identifying vulnerabilities, and ensuring the security and compliance of both internal systems and client environments. You will work in a dynamic, security-conscious team focused on delivering high-quality solutions across diverse industries.

• Coordinate and execute incident management processes and response efforts
• Conduct penetration testing of internal and external systems and services
• Research and develop security-focused solutions and implement technical controls
• Manage and support data protection initiatives and compliance requirements
• Perform internal and external IT-security audits

• Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving threats
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• High attention to detail and ability to work in a structured and organized manner
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken
• Solid technical background and a strong desire to develop further in the IT-security field
• Familiarity with ticketing systems and project management tools

We welcome candidates with experience or interest in:

• Security frameworks and best practices (e.g., ISO 27001, CIS Controls)
• Vulnerability scanning and penetration testing tools
• Log analysis, SIEM platforms, and security automation
• Regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, POPIA, DORA)
• Scripting for security automation (e.g., Python, Bash)

• Must be based in South Africa
• Must have unrestricted work authorization
• Must have a reliable broadband internet connection suitable for full-time remote work
